Stefano Di Miceli exclusive interview for tudobeats by HOUSE MAG

Stefano
Di Miceli was born in the suburbs of Milan, in 1986. From an early age he started appreciating all genres of music, and managed to catch something from each of them. In 2005 started playing electronic music such as house, funk, tech house, minimal and techno, immediately bonding with vinyls that he continues to work with, representing the main support in his work. Influenced by German scene and culture, his rythm gains a deeper and underground touch. He is in a constant search for the perfect mix and timing to play a particular record , always making a careful selection of the best music possible. In February 2008, he creates WATS, an acronym for We Are The Show: partying without rules. Their motto is: respect for people, love and knowledge for electronic music. He is currently resident at Amnesia Milano.

HOUSE MAG: Hi Stefano! Thanks for sharing your experience with TUDOBEATS! Please Tell us 5 tracks u have right now in your car.
STEFANO: I don’t have a car 🙂 Usually I listen something about melodic techno or ambient, sometimes about grunge and rock, it depends about days and mood. In the last days I was listening to Petar Dundov – Missing you, Isolée – I like it here can i stay?,  Shimmy Sham Sham – 002, Ralf Hildenbeutel – Beyond (Retouched), Underworld – I Exhale (Dj Koze remix)

HOUSE MAG: I have read other interviews where you mention influences like funk, house and tech house. For you, which are the main artists in this fields?
STEFANOmy influences come from punk, rock, grunge and then from house and techno. There are many really good artists in these fields but in the last months/year I’m deeply in love with Lawrence, Petar Dundov and Dj Koze.

HOUSE MAG:: Nowadays you are pretty much a Techno DJ, right?
STEFANO: yes, usually when I play many hours I like to warm with ambient and minimal-house and then arrive to tech-house and of course techno. I prefer to play different hours for this reason. My favourite techno is the melodic one. Techno or not, I like music with a soul 🙂

HOUSE MAG: You have a special relation with the Vinyls. Please tell us more about this.
STEFANO: vinyl is something special for me, I can’t explain exactly why, but I have a special feeling with. The covers, the warm sound, the gestures of playing them, the collection in my home.. Every vinyl has a story and I can’t see myself without them!
HOUSE MAG: You are resident DJ of one the most important clubs in Europe, Amnesia Milano. Tell us a bit of this story. How did u get there and how do you like it today.
STEFANOyes, I have my residency at Amnesia Milano since years. I love the club and the people involved. They gave me the possibility to grow with them and I give all what i have inside me to the people on the dance floor. I’m also always in a constant search for the perfect mix and a careful selection of the best music.

HOUSE MAG: As an italian DJ, that plays in other countries, what is the difference for you between electronic music in Italy  and other countries.
STEFANO: I love my country, we have to grow in different things but I think that during last years many people are working in the right way. There are many good projects (clubs, festivals) and I’m optimistic about!
Probably sometimes in the other countries people stay focused to listen to my music and not just about the beat, but I happily noticed that also in many parties in Italy this happens, and it’s really important! Music Education in the club culture is very important.

HOUSE MAG: I know you have a special influence of Sven Vath in your music and career. How is that?
STEFANO: It’s a long story. I follow him since 2004, he is one of my biggest inspiration.  I think he is one of the best djs in the world and it’s amazing how he changes styles during years keeping the same energy and giving the same positive vibes, with class.
He is like good wine, and I like wine 🙂
